Clarington January 23, 2015/- Last year was a great year for building and construction within the Municipality of Clarington. In 2014, Clarington's building division issued 1,176 building permits with a construction value surpassing $291 million for residential, commercial and industrial projects. It's about a 56 per cent increase in construction value compared to 2013 that saw $186.6 million in construction projects.

Clarington January 21, 2015/- Clarington Emergency and Fire Services responded overnight to a large structural fire in Clarington's Newtonville area. A woman was presumed missing, crews have since located her remains. A man was able to escape the fire. He suffered from severe burns and smoke inhalation. He was transported to Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto.

When fire crews arrived the home was fully engulfed in flames. There were two people inside the home when the fire broke out, one was able to escape the fire, and the other is unaccounted for.

Clarington December 16, 2014/- An environmental cleanup is underway in Clarington at the site of a fuel tanker accident. A firm has been contracted to deal with a diesel fuel spill. Around midnight last night, a fuel tanker hit the Cobbledick Road Bridge on Highway 401 eastbound. The contents of one of its compartments, approximately 20,000 litres of diesel fuel, spilled into the ditch, some of it made its way into Wilmot Creek.
